Ninja Summit Attendees Learn to Turn Fear Into Power
by Larry Kendall
There is an amazing opportunity to attend a board breaking session at the Ninja Summit in Vail on July 18-21st. I believe one of the things that will be significant is the part on Focus. The Breaking Limits - Board Breaking Experience portion will be a significant emotional event for many. I was teaching a class in Denver last fall when a woman came up to me at the break and had brought the board she broke in 1985. She had kept if for 20 years - and had it framed! She said that experience changed her life forever.
I have found over the years that most good agents know what to do and how to do it but something holds them back. Many times this is at the subconscious level. It is usually related to fear. Fear holds them back.
The Breaking Limits - Board Breaking Experience helps them address their fears in three ways.
- Participants learn how to mentally prepare themselves, to quiet the little voice that is afraid, and to get very focused and clear on what they want. They will go through a series of focusing exercises and will learn how to move and focus their energy.
- They learn to "step into the fear" and take "100% Full On" action. The board breaking experience can be a bit intimidating to stand there and face breaking a 1" x 12" board with your bare hands. Participants learn to confront this fear, or this uncertainty, and step into it and take action. They learn to convert fear into power.
- They go through a process where they write their fears on the board they are going to break. When they break it, it is like this wonderful lifting of the chains that have held them back. They feel a tremendous sense of empowerment - feel that they can accomplish anything, do anything, be anything. As one Ninja said "I felt absolutely bullet proof, like I could walk through walls, nothing could hold me back - and nothing did from then on. My career and my life went to a whole new level. My life changed forever at that moment in time."
I believe this experience will be one of the highlights for people who attend.
